Potomac
Region Leadership Training 2007-2008
Folks, after much
discussion among the Potomac "certified instructors," as Jerry Peuler
and I are called by KI, the schedule for our 2007-08 educational
sessions is as follows to remove all doubt from your calendars.
We have made changes to the formatting of the previous four training
sessions so that we can do it all in three sessions instead.
Session One -- Saturday, October 20
in Division 17, site
will be Montgomery College or Wheaton HS (could follow on the pancake
breakfast hosted by the Wheaton-Silver Spring Club). This first
session will now include a Kiwanis International Overview,
Capital District Organization, the Role of the President-elect, Goal
Setting and Choosing Your Team.
Session Two -- Saturday,
December 1
in
Division 22, site will be at the United Way of Charles County office in
LaPlata. The second session will include Communication and
Motivational skills for Capital District Kiwanis leaders.
Session Three -- Saturday, March 1, 2008
in Division 1, site will
be at the St Joseph Seminary, 1200 Varnum St NE, Washington, DC.. This
third session will be a joint president and secretary nuts-and-bolts
interaction discussion as the last structured educational effort in
which we will include elements of the KI CLE training plus some Capital
District enhancements. We are deliberately doing this before our
Potomac Region midwinter conference on March 29th so that
presidents-elect and secretaries can give full attention to the other
important subject-matter sessions we'll have at
midwinter.
Each session will be approximately three hours in length, depending on
how much interaction we can encourage from the participants. Each
of you LTGs-designate will have a major role in Session Three and you
will be "in the script" to train your presidents on what you wish to
see happen in your division.
There no longer be a separate secretary training segment in our new
third session. We feel that such training is so important that it
most likely will be given at DCON and/or regional midwinter as one of
our super-sized sessions.
Your training committee is always looking for ideas and your comments
about our educational efforts. Much of what your trainers provide
is required by KI or your District Governor, but we have always
arranged the materials in a manner most beneficial to you. Let's keep
it that way by letting us know your thoughts.
